About CT Home Repair & Tutoring
Hey, I’m Steve — a Connecticut dad, a Baptist Christian, and someone who genuinely believes that knowing how to take care of your home is one of the most valuable things you can pass on to your kids.
My wife and I are raising four boys — ages 6, 10, 12, and 15 — in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Life in our house is loud, busy, and full. Between homeschooling, martial arts, sports, and everything else that comes with four active boys, there’s always something happening. And there’s always something that needs fixing.
I started this blog because I got tired of paying contractors for jobs I could learn to do myself — and because I realized that every repair project was an opportunity to teach my sons something real. How to use a drill. How to patch a wall. How to think through a problem, gather the right tools, and do the work with patience and care. These aren’t just home repair skills. They’re life skills.
I’m not a professional contractor. I’m a dad who has made plenty of mistakes, learned from every one of them, and figured out what actually works for a Connecticut homeowner dealing with drafty doors, old plumbing, humid summers, and brutal winters. Everything on this site comes from real projects — things I’ve actually done, usually with at least one of my boys standing next to me holding the flashlight.
The tutoring side of this blog comes from the same place. We homeschool our boys, and I’ve spent years figuring out what study habits, routines, and approaches actually work for kids at different ages and stages. If you’re a parent trying to help your child build real academic skills — not just get through the next test — you’ll find practical, honest advice here.
My faith shapes how I approach all of this. I believe God calls us to be good stewards of what He’s given us — our homes, our time, our children. Taking care of things well, teaching our kids to do the same, and not cutting corners when the right way takes a little longer — that’s the spirit behind everything I write here.
No ads for contractors. No sponsored content pushing products I don’t use. Just one Connecticut dad sharing what he’s learned, hoping it helps your family the way it’s helped ours.
Welcome to CT Home Repair & Tutoring. Let’s get to work.
